Christian Formation

Adult Sunday School Classes:

Keystone-Circle Fellowship Class- is a non-traditional class whose members share a common interest in responding to issues of social justice and contemporary solutions faced by Christians in our community. Class members share the responsibility for teaching and the class determines its own course of study, typically through the readings and studying of books selected by the members. If you enjoy open discussion and dialogue, this is the class for you. This is a Reconciling Ministries Class (located in the Education Wing, Lower Level).

F.A.M.E. Class- (Fourth Avenue Methodist Episcopal) is a group of retired senior adults who study the International Adult Series. We love to sing the songs of faith and joyfully support the church’s Christian mission. We look forward to welcoming new members (located in the Chapel).

New H.O.P.E. Class- (Have One Peaceful Existence) is an intercultural, multigenerational class of couples and singles, seeking to connect the Bible to the concerns of our daily lives and the world we live in today. Our class chooses or determines courses of study of the Bible in historical context that give us opportunity for open discussion. We welcome everyone’s perspective and level of study and we seek to support and learn from one another (located in the Education Wing, Second Floor).

Newcomers Class- is a four-session class offered quarterly by Pastor Jean and Dr. Charles Brockwell for people who are new to Fourth Avenue. It is an opportunity to learn about the United Methodist history, theology, structure, and the mission of Fourth Avenue UMC (located in the upper room).

Youth Sunday School Class- is for Middle School and High School-aged people attempting to find themselves by searching the Scripture. We attempt to find Christian solutions to everyday problems faced at home and at school We welcome all new seekers (located in the Education Wing, Second Floor).

Children’s Sunday School Class- is for those in Kindergarten and Elementary grades. We use our church’s Bible curriculum, written for the diverse cultures of United Methodism.
